Korea Approves Phase II of WiBro Standard
July 08, 2005
Korean TTA (Telecommunications Technology Association) announced its approval of phase two of the 2.3GHz WiBro (Wireless Broadband) standard. Officials at TTA say that with the introduction of major wireless technologies, such as Smart Antenna and MIMO, as well as WiBro's improved performance and expanded capacity, the fastest download speed for every base station will reach 50Mbps. To ensure the compatibility between terminal devices and WiBro systems by the end of 2005, TTA will continue to establish connection standards between WiBro and other networks, such as mobile communications, WLAN, and DMB.
